Sunday Interview. Julien Doré: "Making a covers album requires real creativity."

Julien Doré's album Imposteur , released in late 2024, has already gone platinum, a rare feat for a covers album. The eccentric artist analyzes the reasons for his success and opens up about his lifestyle, his fears, and the end of his career.

The public discovered you through your covers on “Nouvelle Star”. Eighteen years later, you released Imposteur , an album of covers… Has this come full circle?

"The cover was a starting point in spite of myself, yes, because that was the principle of "Nouvelle Star", but it's an exercise that I appreciate because it requires you to make a music your own and then transform it by adding a touch of your personality. I've been wanting to end my artistic cycle with a cover album for a long time. That's done with Imposteur and, in a way, it's a way for me to take a look in the rearview mirror before moving on to something new."

Anything new?

"Definitely a new album, with a completely new artistic project. I'm not ruling anything out."
